What to do with fully functioning speakers that have been returned from customers? And with similar kinds of ”abandoned” speakers, that are unable to be sold as prime products in mint condition?
The Swedish speaker producer Audio Pro has been struggling with these questions during many years, and during the recent years even more often, as the share of online sales have increased. By environmental concern, it surely does not feel that good to throw these speakers in the bin, merely because their shipping box will not meet the requirement of being unopened.
Another Swedish company, GIAB (Godsinlösen Nordic AB) has during the last few years found a way of how to reuse these types of goods. Their business concept is to transform what earlier have been considered as waste products into commercial valuable resources. This concept is called ReCommerce, and means that damaged or returned items will get a prolonged life by reconditioning, repair and hereafter sales process.
During spring 2020, Audio Pro and GIAB have joined forces, which means that GIAB will take care of any speaker that Audio Pro would like to prolong the life of and at the same time act sustainable. ”It feels really good to be able to do something environmentally friendly, and at the same time be able to save the life of so many products that we otherwise would not be able to sell”, says Jens Henriksen, CCO at Audio Pro. “GIAB’s mindset in regards to circular businesses, feels like a philosophy that matches very well with our own.”, Jens continues.
Andreas Karoliussen at GIAB agrees; “Our business model of transforming our customers waste or unwanted products into commercial valuable resources, align very well with Audio Pro’s ambition with their returned products. Our new cooperation feels like the obvious choice for both parties.”
The recycled speakers are available under the brand GIAB’s sub brand ‘Returhuset’, online as well offline. To be able to shop both cheap and environmentally friendly at the same time, is something that attracts more people than just the hardcore environmentally friendly consumers. Everybody seems to be willing to do their part in terms of sustainability.
